Featuring a site-specific installation; Murmuration; one thousand drawings
Enso Artspace is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Cate Brigden.
Drawing inspiration from a poem by the 5th Century Chinese poet Hsiao Yen, Brigden has created multi layered and vibrantly colored works on paper that capture the ephemeral essence of her garden.
Employing her photographs as source for stencils, she layers a vocabulary of flower and leaf silhouettes producing drawings that reference fabric and Japanese shoji painting.
In addition, Brigden has produced a drawing project that will become a site-specific installation for the duration of the exhibition. Murmuration will feature 1,000 unique drawings of moths, made with sumi ink on polyester, that echo the phenomenon of starlings flocking before roosting at dusk.
